Originally trained and qualified as a teacher, Lyn has transferred these attributes, skills and wide experience in education to the corporate sector. She now plays a vital role in corporate communications, particularly our Clear Writing Courses, presentation skills training, research and media related matters.
Lyn was a teacher in both the private and government systems for almost 35 years. Her experience covered three states and largely was concentrated in the areas of English, communication skills - including public speaking - debating and media. Whilst employed in the Catholic school system for 15 years in Sydney, she was head of English.
Lyn taught in single sex schools and co-educational schools. As an English teacher and a teacher-librarian, she had the opportunity to not only promote reading to the broader school population but was instrumental in selecting reading materials suitable to all students.
In addition to her teaching experience, Lyn had 14 years as the marker/assessor of the Higher School Certificate (English) in New South Wales and 10 years marking the Year 10 School Certificate in English.
Assisting executives and management to learn and further refine research skills utilising all sorts of media is an integral part of Lynette’s client assignments today. Many business people do not have the ability to gather information from a wide range of sources, to summarise that information and to present it in a convincing manner – in writing or personally. Such skills have wide application in the business sector.
Lynette places considerable emphasis and importance on reading, clear writing, listening and general communication skills. Having the ability to express one’s self clearly and succinctly and with flair and facility is most important in the overall cognitive process. This essential in business today.

Experience shows that there is a huge competitive advantage in making accurate decisions quickly. Consider chess. Amateur players revere its strategic mysteries; the grandmasters say it's 99% tactics. Long term thinking is important, but championships are won by the correct reaction to surprises.
Tim is very strong at the intersection of commercial and financial management. He is an expert at helping businesses make decisions in the short to medium term. A lot of consultants support strategy and long-term planning, but there is enormous amount of potential in better everyday decision making.
Through agilty, focus and insight, a business can be prepared to take advantage of uncertainty and surprises. Focus comes from a clear understanding of business drivers, and with internal controls strong enought that management can look outside the business, not inside. Insight comes from accurate view of product and customer profitability, both short term and long term. Agility comes from managers who are cross-functional and who understand the market.
Tim's professional background is diverse. He was based in Indonesia before and during the crisis of 1997 to 1999. He saw agility and strong financial controls help his business prosper and grow when competitors were forced to leave. After a Asia Pacific role which took him to Korea, India, Taiwan and throughout ASEAN, he moved to commercially-oriented finance roles in Europe. In these roles he implemented SAP, integrated suppliers into the IT systems of Philips, worked on improving working capital and receivables, and streamlined reporting and decision making. A common thread is improving the speed and quality of information, and helping human decision makers use information and models to make better and faster decisions.
In his most senior role, he was 2IC of an FMCG business with manufacturing sites throughout Europe, and dependent on a complex global supply chain.
